How can I get rid of old floorboards

I'm taking out very old wood flooring about 10x 12 , small room, anyone know of someone I can hire for disposal? I've found some places that work with contractors on bigger jobs but I'm just a diy-er with this one room. Thanks

What kind? If it really is that old, it might be pretty valuable. Maybe see if any companies that specialize in old house work will buy it off you. I'd hate to see it go to waste.

I hear you, and it crossed my mind, but when I took them up I can see they are in terrible shape through and through, I don't see a lot of potential in them ☹️

That's a shame. Might they be worth anything as scrap wood? Perhaps for some artist or something? They'd probably go pretty quick on Facebook or craigslist.

If they're too destroyed even for that, I'd just get some bags as /u/ConradHalling recommends.

If they aren’t in good shape to recycle I would suggest a junk removal company. I have used Rivas Rubbish Removal before and they had reasonable prices and showed up quickly. Otherwise if budget is on the mind I’d suggest cutting up the pieces yourself and filling up reasonably sized garbage bags. You can put one or two out a week with your regular trash.

Tags Hardware in Porter Square provides bags for disposing of construction materials. You fill the bag and then make an arrangement for pickup. I don’t know the cost.

Depending on your outdoor space, you could use bagster. You buy one at Home Depot/lowes, fill it with trash, and they come pick it up. Has to be placed outside near the road though

You can also use a local company called Junkster out of the north shore. They sell bags at Tags.

Something to keep in mind about these bags is that they need to be able to get to the bag off the side of the truck. Not the back of the truck. Putting it down deep in a driveway is not an option, they will not be able to get to it. I tore out the flooring and piled it outside. Then scheduled the pickup. The morning they were coming, I transferred all the flooring into the bag at the curb so the truck could easily pick it up.

You could throw then away in batches. The city will take a certain about of construction debris in trash each week. When I redid my fence I threw out the old pieces over three weeks.
