I'm thinking about moving to Cambridge, but I'm worried about parking. What parts of Cambridge have semi-accessable street parking?

I'm not trying to live right in Harvard Square or anything, but I would love to have access to the red line.

Any info would be much appreciated :)

I live near Harvard square. I’ve never had to park more than a block from my building. Except for steet cleaning days… we don’t talk about street cleaning days

Almost all of it. You get a permit when you move in.

Street parking is pretty much everywhere in Cambridge. The resident sticker plus a guest pass is also incredibly affordable ~$25 a year.

I’ve lived between Kendall & Inman for a few years now. Never have had any issue at all with permit parking, even during snow or street cleaning. It’s way less of a headache than I anticipated

I lived in north Cambridge near Davis for a while and I never had to park more than a block away, except for the snowy season.

I would suggest that you consider getting rid of your car and using public transportation, Lyft, and Zipcar. You can save a lot of money and hassle.

If you were talking about Boston, I'd agree with you. Cambridge, not so much. It's a hassle to get your car registered in MA because the RMV is complete garbage, but once you have it registered I fail to see how owning a car in Cambridge is more of a hassle than taking public transportation or relying on Zipcar, or more expensive than rideshare and Zipcar.

I own a car and a bike and live next to the Red line. I bike and T and take the bus when it's convenient, drive when it's not. You can get by without a car in Cambridge but it's certainly not more convenient and it's cheaper only if you don't value your time.
