Hey Columbia residents, my car was stolen from my apartment parking lot probably late Wednesday night, went out for a drive and it was gone. Putting this out there as a warning and also a question. Has anyone had any history with getting their car stolen in Columbia/what are the success rates of finding it? Was pretty surprised that this occurred in Columbia. Not a great Christmas gift…

Columbia has a population of over 105,000 people. Crime is significantly lower here than in most other towns/cities of equivalent size.
This place is over taxed, over priced, and full of crime.
You won’t hear me argue about the first 2. You are however objectively wrong about the crime.
PA, And WV are both much better places to live. And it really isn’t close.

Same once I can afford to move I am. Not because of the crime though, it’s really not that bad in KC I live like a 5 minute walk from OP I just hate it here

Exactly people downvoting this, but they’re just desensitized to it. People get their wheels stolen all the time. Columbia is the most overrated suburb.
I don’t think people are desensitized it’s just there is crime everywhere/always and if you compare Columbia crime to neighboring areas crime… Columbia is a lot safer .

No one has stolen our car, but countless packages have been pirated from our porch over the years, and one brazen person nabbed something from my husband's car the one time it was in our driveway unlocked (ran in to grab something + a bathroom visit) instead of safely stowed in the garage.
These are nuisance crimes, but at least there aren't violent marauders afoot constantly. I know that's not much consolation to you, especially when you're just living your life according to the social contract, and someone snatches something of this magnitude from you.
