It doesn't seem like there's as much Mexican food here since a lot of it is also Peruvian, Salvadorean, etc. but we've consistently had good experiences with Taqueria Los Primos. As long as they're not super packed the food is done pretty quickly too.

So I really enjoy cinco de Mayo, but idk if it’s the best Mexican food (I’ve never really had “authentic” Mexican food). Over the summer a new place opened called salt and lime, I love the food from here.

“Mexican food” in the US is not Mexican cuisine, and even though the guy who owns this food truck is Guatemalan and the name is Guatemalan, it is not Guatemalan cuisine. It’s US Mexican food. They sell cheeseburgers for Christ’s sake.

I think OP will like it.

Ernesto's in Ellicott City is great, the shrimp enchiladas are delicious.

In the area ? Cinco De Mayo. Not true Mexican by any means but great TexMex and the prices can’t be beat. Sure other places are good too… but seem expensive to me.

For tacos - Lime & Salt on Dobbin is AMAZING. Truly. Best tacos outside of Mexico in my opinion. Fresh and authentic. Great prices too.

Taqueria la patrona (truck) on Stevens forest rd has good tacos, they also have burritos & quesadillas & some other stuff I can't recall. Occasionally they have mole tamales.

Tampico grill in Laurel. I've been going there for 20 years and it's a real hidden gem. Looks are deceiving for sure, but it's the best tex-mex I've ever had

Mi Pueblo in Glen Burnie. Really great food. If that’s too far, La Palapa in Old Ellicott City is good.

None of the local food rises to the level of the Mexican food you can get in the southwest; I chalk it up to locally sourced ingredients. That being said La Papalapa in Ellicott City is our favorite with La Papalapa Too is a close second ( and my preference for lunch).

It's Tampico Grill and it's not even that close. My wife and I have had damn near every restaurant and truck in Howard County and nothing touches Tampico. Pro tip - get the steak burrito or taco or whatever. They have the best steak around.

Mi Casa off St. John’s and route 40. Much better than Ernesto’s down the street.

Theres just a plethora of better Mexican options down there. Taqueria Los Primos is solid. Quesadilla had too much cheese for me but the chicken tacos were good

Food is fantastic, it's the best I've found so far. I've had trouble w/ the pick up option on Door Dash or maybe it was Uber Eats. So, if you're doing a pick up it's best to call instead.

Mi vida or dlena in DC. Clavel in Baltimore. Most others are just simply chains or not good.

Although for a suburb location Chi-Bal in Laurel is significantly better than Tampico, la-palapa, cinco de Mayo, or any other option presented.
