Janet Evans' resignation letter provides an insider look at how toxic the CA board of directors is

https://www.themerriweatherpost.org/post/former-long-reach-representative-janet-evans-scathing-resignation-letter-and-other-ca-news

It really highlights the need for new board members. Please consider running and/or voting in the upcoming election

Also, people shouldn't gloss over the conflict of interest between Long Reach Village chair Nina Basu (ED of Inner Arbor Trust, I believe) and the decision by her village board to rush through their appointment/replacement of Evans for Friedman. IAT is constantly begging for money from CA and now, thanks to Friedman getting in, they're closer to getting it. It sure smells fishy from the cheap seats. The rot is deep. Me and others in the community are watching and paying close attention at all levels. Voting and staying engaged is imperative.

Yep. I was one of two residents to show to the meeting. Called out their conflicts of interest in the decision making process. Crickets. Nina knew it was a conflict of interest. So Ed motioned for the appointment of Friedman, and the only other LR Board member present (other than Friedman, which was also appointed by the LR Board) seconded the appointment.

Ed Coleman even mentioned to Friedman he could vote for himself.

A little interesting tidbit.

The same outside counsel that CA board has been using is the same counsel the IAT has used. It's also is the same counsel that's been used by the LR Village when when a former employee made claims of serious misconduct by the Village adminitrators and they were concerned with being sued.

What would be the best course of action if you already had a “good” board member, like say if you live in Wilde Lake.

Remind your "good" board members that you, and others, are paying attention. Offer praise and encouragement when you see them stand up publicly for what's right and the things you believe in. And vote.

Door knock for the candidates in other villages. Figure out who in your network lives in their neighborhood and specifically ask them to vote and provide information on how to do so.

This brings tears of joy to my eyes. They've been answering to no one but themselves for too long

I’m still flabbergasted at this whole situation. Our own local government is run with no accountability.

The board members are accountable to voters at election time (basically starting now and going through April). It’s up to you to hold them accountable and encourage your neighbors to do so as well.

This has made me pay attention to local politics for sure!

Just like to remind folks that CA is not the government.

Thank you for that reminder. Calling CA or the villages a “government” is a pet peeve of mine. CA controls tens of millions of dollars and thousands of acres of land but they don’t pass laws or zoning or anything.

Democratically elected home owners association doesn’t have the same ring to it.
