Not quite Columbia, but in the area I like Hideaway in Odenton.
You can try Kloby’s off John’s Hopkins road and 29. I like their brisket over Mission BBQ.
Ehhh, any place that has to do something like their jar-b-cue stunt doesn't give me confidence in their bbq as a whole.
Have you actually been? They do (or used to do) a good job.
Klobys has gone downhill as the prices have gone up.
Yeah I have. I wasn't the biggest fan. Definitely better than mission like you said. But I don't think their brisket is that good. To be fair I'm a brisket snob, and there's not a place in HoCo that I feel does a good brisket that I've found.
Their sides are pretty good though.
Totally agree. It’s an okay restaurant but the brisket at Kloby’s is maybe a 3/10. Got it once. Never again. Like eating a piece of leather.
Bullhead pit beef next to Hysteria makes the best brisket I've had in the area
Kloby's had the best beef brisket that I've had in HoCo. But the closest almost-Texas quality brisket I've had in the region is 2Fifty Texas BBQ inside the DC beltway, just a bit south of College Park.
2 Fifty is the best I had in MD. A hair under than the actual Texas bbq I have had.
might want to ask over on r/hocofood
Thanks for the suggestions. I've been to Hideaway, it is good. Very similar menu to Julep in Annapolis, same company. I will check hocofood
No Brisket but the best pit beef, ribs, beef tips, pulled pork (not bbq ) and half chickens, pit Turkey n ham is Beefalo Bobs in Pasadena on Mountain Rd. Fries are great too.
If you're going to do Mission (it's not great but it's convenient) they have a chopped brisket in sauce. I had never seen it in the menu until last weekend. I was surprised how much I liked it.
Does Mikey and Mel's have brisket?

Not brisket but don’t sleep on Canopy over on Rt. 40 in Ellicott City.
