It's terrible. Even if you were driving with absolutely no traffic, it's still 60 miles one way. By train it's at least 90 minutes one way. From Fairfield it's a terrible, but doable, commute, never mind two more towns up the line.

If you plan on taking the train, plan for a 2 hour commute, give or take depending on how far you are from both stations. As for driving, I would not recommend it. I drive from Fairfield to Greenwich daily, and it takes me anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half during rush hour. So unless your hours are like, 7-3, you’re gonna have a bad time.

Would it be worth it moving to Norwalk or stamford or would those not make a significant difference

Stamford would be your best bet. You would be shaving off at least 30 min of train time (or more if you catch the express). But the cost of living is much higher there than in Stratford. So you have to weigh your pros and cons. Would you be commuting every day? If not, you can get away with Stratford.

Sure. I commute a couple days a week into the city from that area and it’s fine.

Never ever ever ever make the drive. Train would be better, but yes moving to Stamford would be best

You have to consider the hours you work and where in NYC you work. I’ve been doing the commute for over 20 yrs (mostly in the Bronx with a short stint in Manhattan) I leave around 5:30 and return 2-3pm . The trip is bearable but not without its frustrations. Taking the train to the Bronx doesn’t make sense time wise and even working in Manhattan would of required the shuttle, another train and a long walk, didn’t make sense time wise. What I’ve recommended to a few people is to stay in a local hotel and do the trip for the week and see if it’s something you want to do. FYI I’m in Milford a tad further.

How many days a week? 1-2 would be fine. 3+ could be painful. Always train.

Also helps if work is near GCT and not, say, downtown.
