Once the Whale left, I stopped following the NHL. Besides the Bruins and Rangers didn't want there to be a team in Hartford. They wanted that market share.
My favorite team.....whoever is playing the hurricanes.
To another's point, I don't follow the nhl anymore. I watch college hockey instead.
ECAC or Hockey East?
HE and Big Ten
Congrats to Quinnipiac!
It took an unbelievably lucky series of events for Hartford to even have an NHL team. The Rangers and Bruins didn’t kill the Whalers, the reality of NHL finances did.
The Hurricanes shouldn’t be wearing Whalers uniforms though.
If anyone over 35 wishes or miss hockey in CT or pro sports the only ones to blame is yourself there were honest attempts at getting multiple sports teams in CT but not enough people went to games. For whatever excuses the most attended team was the thrashers and it was a shit show owned by the mob.
With that being said, those games had an incredible atmosphere. I don’t know if you’ve seen the Netflix special on the Trashers, but it encapsulated that team amazingly well. Was it pure skill hockey…no. But it was entertaining.
I was 12 years old when they left. How could my tween ass allow this to happen, I'm sorry everyone

I hope the Bruins win 5-0, just like the first time they ever played. I was there.
