Lamont and Blumenthal will almost definitely win but skipping a debate is a bad look. I can sympathize with not wanting to give Levy a platform to spout her trump rhetoric but skipping a debate flat out isn't a great sign.
Edit: Looks like they never actually committed to the debate in the first place.

Sort of. Lamont and Stefanowski already debated a few weeks ago. Blumenthal and Levy are scheduled to debate in 2 weeks.
This was a debate scheduled by 2 other organizations. The candidates never agreed to it, they just turned down the invitation offered.
They are debating, just not this one. And if you wanted to hold your own debate next week and invite them they'd probably turn you down too.
League of Women Voters is a credible organization and turning them down isn't great but this isn't all together terrible.

Is the below not accurate? Shows a debate slated for the 25th and for the 27th. Are they listing it regardless of whether or not they accepted maybe?

They already had a debate. This is just one that they choose not to do.

CTPublic scheduled them before anyone RSVP'ed. Trying to shame them into showing up I guess.
edit: To further add
> The campaign of Gov. Ned Lamont agreed Friday to two televised debates with Republican Bob Stefanowski, half the number of head-to-head contests between the duo in 2018 when they competed for an open seat.
> This year, at least five broadcasters offered to host debates, including WFSB on Oct. 6, News 12 on Oct. 25, and CPTV with the League of Women Voters on Oct. 27.

Democrats skipping debates this year is a sad trend, but not surprising

Thank you for that enlightened and adult perspective!

I guess you don't understand, there was never a debate scheduled at Fairfield University

Republicans in Greenwich and Fairfield have refused to join debates.....

Almost definitely?
Ned and Rich already have the champagne in their fridge. :)

Yeah this is bullshit. It's happening all over the place with both parties.
Here's the GOP Secretary of the State backing out of a debate in September - https://www.ctpublic.org/news/2022-09-15/secretary-of-the-state-debate-cancelled-after-republican-candidate-cites-unforeseen-circumstances
Here's the Fairfield and Greenwich GOPs saying that the League of Women Voters have majority Democratic members therefore they refused all efforts to debate, which is decidedly more pathetic than skipping a debate you never RSVP'd to - https://ctmirror.org/2022/09/25/league-of-women-voters-greenwich-local-candidate-debates-canceled/
And here's the League of Women Voters saying "we have not changed any of our bipartisan debate laws, y'all are fucked up for this one" - https://ctmirror.org/2022/10/03/lvw/
So, uh, yeah, it's not just Democrats.

Right? I remember even in 2016 I was sweating when the early results looked promising for Stefanowski, as the rural precincts were the first to report.

Thanks for the clarification!

Kind of pointless. The GOP slate has nothing going for it; were I Blumenthal I'd probably take a vacation this election season.
