I'm trying to figure out whether I would qualify for CT paid leave and am getting a bit confused with the language regarding the 4 quarters out of the first 5 quarters in your base period. I was working in MA until my employer closed the office, and I now work from home in CT. CT state taxes started being withheld from my paychecks in June 2022. I'll be looking to take paid leave in June 2023. I'm thinking I would qualify for leave as of 7/1/23. Is this correct even if the qualifying event occurs in June 2023?

The HR person/org at your work will be able to provide a far more accurate answer to this question. This is a situation where I wouldn’t risk taking some random redditors opinion even if it’s well informed.

Piggybacking on this, you can also inquire with Aflac, the administrator of the program on the eligibility requirements.

Doing paid leave for paternity earlier this year, you need to have been paying in for the last five quarters to be eligible. They pick your four best to base the rate on. I came back from Chicago and wasn’t here long enough to qualify.

That’s what I thought too, but they just emailed me and said I do qualify….

I went deep into this process, up to producing pay stubs and spent weeks back and forth with a rep before I got rejected. Another couple weeks of radio silence about why the rejection until that finally came up. Then told I could reapply when I did meet that. Just my personal experience

Wow. So based on your experience would you agree that I would qualify?

I’m not sure, it’s either just enough or you need one more quarter from my thinking
