Heating oil is designed to burn cleaner than diesel.

Oh? news to me...how?

It’s not designed differently nor does it burn any cleaner, it’s simply dyed a different color and taxed differently

Bingo! I was just curious about the yarn red was going to spin

According to my oil company, it’s cleaner because they put additives in it that also clean my oil tank and lines!

LOL that’s bullshit. I’m in the trade. The only additives they put in is an anticoagulant and it actually makes it burn slightly worse, however it can go into lower temperatures before it starts to gel up.

Interesting, they sold it as “BioHeat Heating Oil” which was less sulfur and an additive like Lucus tuneup in a bottle.
Doesn’t surprise me, my oil tank is like 60 years old so it wouldn’t matter anyway. But that was their justification for the higher oil prices

Bio heating oil is different. It’s made by blending ultra-low sulfur heating oil with biodiesel which is made from soy, other vegetable oils, animal fats, recycled restaurant oils and other recycled grease sources.

Well, that to me. Seems less desirable. Thanks for the info lol
