Delete Facebook. Only idiots are left on there.

I only keep it so I can have an aggregate view of local events and see new beer releases and occasionally, send messages directly to local businesses if I have a question about something. I get 0% of my news from it.

Sadly, not true. It’s shocking how many people I know and like post stupid and ignorant crap. Not to mention extended family! FB is the only way we stay in touch but far too many right wing nuts in this tree.

I have the same family tree… it’s shocking how many of my own cousins I had to block or straight up remove because I couldn’t stand it anymore. I’m all for opinions but when you’re spewing blatant disinformation that is easily verifiable then it’s time to go!

The author of this Facebook post likely peaked in high school.

Yeah it’s super sad b/c it’s mostly cousins and aunts/uncles that I do love, and my cousins were our best friends growing up. Removing them, but not the 2 cousins whose ideals align with mine, feels…icky. I know I’m better off deleting it altogether but then we have no connection anymore. Tough call to make

I feel like the only reason I have facebook is to read Heather Cox Richardson in the mornings. I spend more time scrolling Reddit these days.

I had thought the same thing but I'm an attorney and so my clients need to be honest and decent or else I don't want to work with them. So I had no trouble walking away from Facebook. Recently got rid of our business Twitter too.

I suggest Google maps for places.

In Google search results. If you just type in local events, it will give you a quick info panel in the top of your search results with tons of local events, many of them I think indexed directly from Facebook.

Sure, a healthy discussion about how libtards are destroying America, Putin is a hero, illegals are to blame for everything, and the Earth is flat.

Which ones are brain dead?

The ~40% that voted against allowing early voting?

I used FB to find an apartment whilst I browse for a home. Gentrification has taken root in southeastern ct. the ugly weed I’m has sprouted, displaced residents are fleeing NL is drove as rent prices double what they were a year ago. The general dynamics stock has literally doubled since 2020. New London is a gorgeous, waterfront port city; ripe for the plundering. Low income residents tend to be more wary of the authorities whilst the influx of hipsters are ignorant of the rampant systemic corruption that rapes and pillages the poor. That horrific tax bracket gets gregariously large breaks; while the lower class is left handing a third of their checks over once a week to a government that can’t even come to terms with the fact drugs are here to stay. With quality control and restrictions on fetty; the lucrative and legal field could provide numerous jobs to individuals stuck in recidivism…whilst the tax revenue could go to humanitarian causes..Red and Blue could just brush off the demagogues like lint from one’s shirt and raise an effective third party.. Hustlers become CEO and active addicts become contributing members of society. Shit, it’s not like we don’t have the pharmaceutical infrastructure to produce these substances. Keep psychedelics out of it though; that field is ripe for brainwashing individuals to dose, and suddenly come down with a horrible case of “Christian nationalism”

Yeah, I had to start using it again when I moved to CT because it just made it so much easier to find events and actually speak to people about them.

But now I'm just looking at my timeline full of people back in SC and it's both horrifying and hilarious.

Politics is all fun and games until you disagree over something major like a flu shot and get called a sheep blindly following the crazy left. And then they get the flu and expect you to feel sorry for them.
