I have done this, but I am by no means "appeased". I have always used "alternative" suppliers, typically choosing 100% renewables, but sometimes choosing "lowest price". And here's the problem, to which you allude: "no early termination fee". That cuts both ways, and I have twice had suppliers renege on their "contract" with me :(

I am curious how they were able to break the terms? I have also been using third parties when it is cost effective and have only heard of third parties raising the rates ludicrously high after the term expires. This caught people by surprise that were not paying close attention. Never during the contract term. Can you share?

I have not had the "price spike" problem. I believe there were changes made by PURA to minimize that risk. As for the provider not fulfilling the full duration of the contract... I may be wrong, but I think they can only do that if they leave the EnergizeCT marketplace. That has happened to me twice.
