Is there a good asbestos inspector/ tester in the Manchester area? I have about 50ft of potentially asbestos wrapped pipe in my unfinished basement I would like removed.

You can get a test at most hardware stores. $40 for two samples. You just chip off a suspect piece, stick it in the baggie, label it and send in with you payment info. Results come back in about 2 weeks.

yes. save yourself consultant fees and DYI . TRC in Windsor has a lab if you wanted to bring a bagged sample there. just wet it first before removing. A thumbnail size pi ece is plenty.

The biggest issue with asbestos is it becoming airborne and breathing it in, so definitely wet it first as suggested. You can also seal it with asbestos sealing paint instead of removing it. Which I would recommend doing even if you decide to remove it

If it’s on your heating pipes there is a 99.9% chance it is asbestos.

Built in the 50's and on heating pipes I would say with confidence it is asbestos. Highly recommend contacting a remediation company which will recommend the best course of action. The sealing/wrapping they do is 100% effective and affordable it also will not hinder your future chances of selling the home (if this is an important factor). Asbestos sealed by a licensed remediation company (Licensed is CRITICAL) will pass FHA guidelines etc.
