So I can go back to eversource w/o penalty but not change to a different provider - correct?

Yes, that is correct, zero reason not to go with the cheapest available & when things change, you can change again.

One last scenario to make sure I understand:

I chose someone other then eversource now but come June, I see that a provider has better rates coming up. So I cancel with the one I have and go back to eversource “temporarily” and then change again to the other provider with the better rate that starts July 1, correct?

I think you can have Eversource take over supplier duties from another supplier at any point in the billing cycle if you call them and tell them to switch back. But you can only switch to another third party supplier as of the next meter read.

That is correct, you don't even need to switch back to eversource to choose a new provider. I switched to town Square i believe from constellation and I got about 24 more months at 0.989. It's so unreal knowing I could be paying over 0.24 more than double. Not trying to rub it in but sometimes the long term contracts can be a lifesaver.
