I’m looking to find some good quality local cheeses. I want some that are produced instate with instate ingredients.

I figured personal recommendations would be the best place to start. Anyone have a trusted cheesemonger? Looking for someone I can have a chat with and build a relationship with. I live in Hartford county but pretty much willing to drive anywhere.

Thanks in advance!

I’m not sure how much local product is sold there, but Fromage in Old Saybrook has a very knowledgeable owner.

109 Cheese in Ridgefield and Kent is one of the most wonderful places. Monica, the owner, knows more about cheese than anyone I’ve ever met. She will absolutely be able to guide you.

Chris who runs Fromage in Old Saybrook is fantastically knowledgeable. She doesn't just help you pick out the exact right cheese, she can tell you the story behind that cheese. She carries a lot of lesser known or small batch cheeses from all over the world.

Fromage is the first, last, and only answer to this question. Best in the state for selection and knowledge. Ask for the owner, she will steer you right.

Centerbrook all the way. They have local and imported stuff. They have a parmigiana called Pave Vecchio that is the best stuff in the world. But per your request, while there you should definitely pick up some Cato Corner.

as others have mentioned, Cato Corner Cheese Farm in Colchester. They are known for their artisan cheeses. When you're done there, stop in at Hop Culture Farms and Brew just up the road for a nice beer. Hop Culture grows their own hops for their beers.

Believe it or not the Willimantic Food Coop has an extraordinary selection of local and regional artisan cheeses. Minus is that they are all precut but pluses are the prices can't be beat and very very nice people.
