Had a text saying power was restored around 730 this evening. That is false, so I had to resubmit a power outage, likely putting us to the back of the line.

Family & I are having a "camp out" by the wood stove, but pretty sure all the food we had prepped for the holiday weekend is going to be a total loss.

And I'm sure getting the $250 back for wasted food is like pulling teeth.

Our freezers luckily stay cold for over 24hrs, but we tried putting our refrigerated items outside & things froze within an hour. Oh well, it was worth the shot!

Same thing happened here. Power went out at around 6:20 pm after I had seen trucks all day along 201. I thought they were shifting some circuits or buses for those houses to be restored, but that was just a pipe dream. So I reported around 7pm, then within half an hour I got a call stating all was resolved. I called again and made sure I spoke to an operator to make it clear my street was down. No ETA, of course. I hope by late morning, or we'll be packing to travel to my daughter's for Yule.

Still out - to be determined. I see the limb that has been hanging on the line since 4 am. They drove by didn’t have the right equipment and haven’t been back since. I hope we can get something done that will either break Eversource’s grasp on New England.

same here and we're going on 15 hours. They're still evaluating. I can evaluate for them. There's a tree leaning on the wires. Cut it down and turn on the power. Minimal damage if any. Real simple. Probably take them an hour.

7

so2017 t1_j1g5ga9 wrote

Still evaluating here, too. There is a wire down. There has been an Eversource pickup truck parked next to the down wire for 11 hours. And that’s it.

Doesn’t seem super efficient to me but what do I know…

2

eddie964 t1_j1gan4x wrote

The truck is almost certainly staffed by some bored HR manager who has been commandeered to guard the live wire so that some idiot doesn't step on it or drive over it before a crew can deenergize it. I used to work for an electric utility: Anyone capable of fogging a mirror could get pulled for downed-wire duty during a storm.

13

ArmchairDetective73 t1_j1hmglu wrote

Same. They're still "evaluating" after 15 hours. The outage was caused by a small fallen tree that's leaning on wires. There are no downed wires. I can see it from my house. Since only 8 of us in the immediate area are out of power, we are not a priority. ☹️

goodnatured_golfer t1_j1hwrtd wrote

3:05 got power back. Xmas party can happen for me & mine. Hoping the rest get it back sooner than later.

buried_lede t1_j1hdvt6 wrote

Because maybe it will turn out to be better performance than Isaiah? Easy to please. I don’t apologize for them, I am fully committed to major overhaul of the electric market in CT

Other kinds of utility structures do better on all counts - price, outages, accountability - on the whole.

porklomeinnoveg t1_j1gct7z wrote

It’s be nice for all the money we pay and for the rate increase in 2 weeks if they’d be a little proactive, especially considering they dropped the ball the last time there was a storm. Lessons learned and all that.

9

LordConnecticut t1_j1gtpfo wrote

Tell me then, why is Eversource just about bottom of the barrel when it comes to restore times compared to utilities in other states with the same number of outages. Oh yeah, because shareholder profits don’t restore power.

8

Tonydildos t1_j1j515v wrote

This isn’t eversources fault. There are power outages all over the northeast and finding enough electricians on Christmas weekend to do this work isn’t easy. They are mostly subcontractors working with eversource getting power on out there. I used to be a lineman and I don’t envy what those guys are going through with this weather right now.

You probably don’t understand the work involved, so instead of shitting on workers you can just be grateful for the people who’s power has already been restored :)

−2

so2017 t1_j1jeohv wrote

Nobody is shitting on workers. Everyone is justifiably shitting on a company that issues 891 million dollars in dividends, raises rates obscenely, and then routinely fails to keep the lights on.
