Zero worries in this regard. Been doing it in central CT for 25+ years. With over 10 companies. There’s an up charge from the credit card companies when you pay with a card. Cash is King In this situation brother.

I would pay cash or check if there was a higher rate to use a credit card.

Since switching to use cashheatingoil.com, it has been the same rate so I use a credit card to get the points for the purchase on a rewards card that I pay in full every month. Every couple of years I have enough points to fly my family somewhere on vacation for free.

Cash more risky than giving up your cc details? HA! If dealing with cash heating oil.com, some vendors prefer a card...they're legit. I just pay cash and be done with it

I can't believe this is even a question. What would be shady about it? Cash existed before credit cards and instead of card companies wetting their beak off you buying some oil you get it cheaper without the risk of somehow forgetting to pay off your card and having it cost you even more with interest. If you think this is some scam just ask for a receipt.

I’ve been using it for 2 years with several different local oil companies that deliver with no issues. We always pay with cash. As long as you can be home or can tell them a safe spot to leave the cash. I also call a local hvac company to just do our yearly service on our boiler. I tell everyone to use cash for oil honestly.

1)Some degree of buyer protection using credit cards. 2) cash back/points with credit cards 3) the ability for the data of the sale to integrate with quicken/software to track purchases and spending. 4) not having to carry cash /go to an ATM (that just sucks)

Typically spend real cash probably less than a dozen times in a year. Really no point for most things. It's quite skeevy to demand cash nowadays because it just sounds like you don't want it on your company ledger. Discount would have to be greater than 0.10 per gallon to beat the cash back someone can make on a credit card.

I understand the advantages of using a credit card, I use one to buy my oil but I don't find using cash to be "sketchy". I just am too lazy to get the cash and the points even out with the discount so I don't see why I'd bother.

I repaved my driveway this year and paid in cash to get a substantial discount. It did feel a little weird handing the guy 19k in an envelope!
