OK so use know how Frontier was staring to build their FTTH network in the past few years out. https://www.ctinsider.com/business/article/Frontier-s-fiber-optic-internet-service-may-be-16315438.php

GoNetSpeed a newcomer is starting to aggressively expand its fiber network soon in east hartford.

Here's the big one nobody talking about Sifi networks is building out an OPEN ACCESS fiber to the home network out in East Hartford. THIS IS HUGE! https://sifinetworks.com/cities/east-hartford-ct/

It will give birth to a lot of small isps utopia fiber https://orem.org/utopia/ https://etisoftware.com/resources/blog/utopia-fiber-americas-largest-open-access-network/

is an open access network was built by the local government it currently serves a dozen towns and most towns can get a choice of around 16 isps.

Sifi said that their east harford network design is complete on the website.

the reason i guessed that time frame is that it will take around that time for them to reach most towns.

With that said East Hartford WILL be the most competitive town in the state in a few years.

I have had gonetspeed since March. Ditched xfinity for them and have had no issues they have been great and the price is so much cheaper.

Same, I’m very glad they came to our neighborhood. Zero problems vs. Xfinity having outages every month or two.

We had an 18 wheeler go down our road and it ripped the fiber line right off the house, gonetspeed was there an hour or so later putting another one up. Awesome company.

I wish these companies would look at the west end of Manchester... Still only can get cox at my business, and it's very expensive for slow cable.

Well, first off you really have no choice. Just internet, $65 vs $80 is better but 900 up/ 900 down vs. 20 up/ 120 down is the real winner! Obscenely fast and cheaper. The company, to deal with, is worse than Spectrum ever was if that can be believed. They don't have a real 24hr service so talking to a real person on weekends and late nights is really interesting. I had TONS of issues with a simple install, no call no shows and rescheduling to ongoing problems with simple billing. BUT THE SPEED AND THE INCLUDED WIFI BASES (2 of them) ARE AMAZING!!!

I got it as soon as it was available in April in Bloomfield this year. I got the 1gig tier. Just dropped Xfinity . Downloads are fast

Install in Vernon 2.5 weeks ago. 4 days from contact to install, tech was excellent and on time, 500/500 for $40/mo working flawlessly. Bye bye comcast!

It's piecemeal, some neighborhoods get it, some don't. Even in Coventry not all neighborhoods have it (although mine does.) But in my industrial zone in Manchester we've got 30+ businesses in one location hostage to Cox.

I'm in central Manchester and switched to Frontier fiber last year. I have to imagine it's only a matter of time until it gets to your area.

They use the address searches on their site to gauge demand.

100%. Government should build and maintain important & widely used infrastructure for the benefit of taxpayers and attracting business.

That’s the kicker. We have to have a government that will effectively do this. It’s my understanding that the muni power companies have some of the most poorly maintained power grids in the state (i may have received bad info on this though, so correct me if I’m wrong).

Live in a muni power grid after living in eversource.

Grid goes down less, and is back up faster when it does go diwn

Anybody here using T-Mobile home internet?

ClearlyBananas t1_j1ky79l wrote

I have it. It's very mid. Speed test never gets over 200mbps, and I get pretty horrible lag spikes when playing online. Streaming 4k is good sometimes, if you don't have a lot of devices hogging bandwidth. Cox is my only other choice in Meriden (for some reason can't get Frontier fiber at my address) and Gonetspeed is nowhere close.

They're gonna have to do a lot more than that to make East Hartford livable.
