What are some of the best or worst things about Granby? We are considering moving from Rhode Island and I just wanted to hear some unbiased input on the area. It seems like a beautiful, quiet place with pretty decent schools. What should a young couple be aware of before we commit?

Good schools, easy access to the airport and 91 (if you like to go to VT), charming setting, lots of good hiking opportunities.

The only negative I've heard about the town is that it covers a big area - so while parts of granby are reasonably accessible to Hartford/Springfield, others are more distant and remote. That may be a good thing or a bad thing depending upon your perspective.

There was an ancient time, around 2004(?) before we were up to our buttcracks in Breweries, that the Cambridge House Brew Pub was a destination for me and my friends.

That’s all I got.

Awesome! Good schools are honestly a big part of what got us considering the area. Another part is being a bit more remote. We both work from home and I travel pretty often all over Connecticut, Mass, Rhode Island & southern Vermont + New Hampshire. Honestly the location is pretty perfect for the area I cover!

Thanks for the input, we really appreciate it!

Lots of parks nearby.

Salmon brook, Mclean wildlife refuge, Granbrook park. Old Newgate prison is nearby as well.

There’s an international skating center nearby in simsbury.

And you’re only 15 minutes away from Windsor, which has Bradley International Airport.

Tons of hiking, breathtaking beauty in the fall when the leaves turn. History rich area as well. Schools are good and you are close enough to everything yet you feel like you’re in a peaceful nature setting.

I've lived in Granby since 2009 and love it.

Pros: Great restaurants, good schools, people are friendly, quaint, lots of hiking nearby, horse town, IMO town DPW does a great job with plowing/road treatment of secondary roads

Cons: High taxes, far from Home Depot, not close to the highway

Airport so constant plane traffic and a shooting range you wont want to live close to.
