My kids want this category for our monthly eating-out treat, we are kinda poor these days and they have not kept up with chores lately, so looking to spend as little as possible.

Area centered around Danbury up to the MA border, west of Waterbury north of Norwalk.

Does not need to be anything gourmet or "special", and ambiance and service quality are irrelevant,

in fact if the food is super great value even takeaway is acceptable.

Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Afghani, Uighur really any Middle Eastern would be fine too, but not east of Nepal.

And yes I have advanced google-fu skillz, looking for members' input based on experience or even hearsay please

Royal Guard Fish and Chips on main st Danbury is my go to for Indian/ Pakistani in Danbury. The restaurant is a pretty shitty hole in the wall but the food is good and cheap.

The Brookfield Market in the four corners also has a really good Indian menu.

Kolam in Newtown is good. Coromandel in Darien and Orange is exceptional Indian. They aren’t “cheap” but entree portions are huge enough to share amongst family, so you wind up not spending that much.

Is New Haven too far? Tons of options in New Haven and nearby towns.

Wonderful place when I'm feeling flush or by myself.

Not at all the kind of pricing I'm asking for here, rarely can we three get out for under $80 all up.

I really miss the lunch buffet, all you could eat for $12

I would not jave used multiple labels if I thought they were the same.

I am looking for suggestions in any / all those categories.

We do cook dishes from all these cuisines at home, but once a month we go out, as a family, for a treat of food prepared by others.

Dunya in Waterbury is great!

My son and I had dinner on Saturday night at Salvador right next door, DELICIOUS Turkish food and even a belly dancer! Highly recommend!

I think there’s a decent middle eastern/Indian population in the area. So lots of good stuff! There’s also some random ones like Lalibela - Ethiopian, Tibetan Kitchen, Hachiroku - izakaya, Toka - Indonesian, Ketkeo - Laotian. Interesting Thai at Sept in Bangkok and Noa. Amazing sushi at Rockfish and ramen at Menya. Great city for ethnic foods.

Almost forgot Havenly, for middle eastern food. they support refugees.
