We currently have Eversource as our electric provider and was looking to make the switch to Think Energy or Town Square energy. Both companies say they we can’t switch to them because we have a solar system. Anyone else run into this? Also, the solar system installer we used in 2017 doesn’t seem to be in business anymore but we are having problems with our system. I reached out to CT GreenBank for help (we went through them for financing). Will another solar company still service our system?

We have solar and have had no issues switching suppliers over the years.

We just switched to Constellation with no issues yet. We have solar that was installed last year.

What is the issue with your solar system?
Also did you sign up for a lease or did you buy it outright and have it installed. A lease could get in the way and be problematic.

We purchased the system with financing through the CT green bank. I think the problem is the other providers don’t support net metering.

I think net metering is a delivery thing which Eversource or UI handle by default. The others are strictly supply.
If you own the system, depending on its tier rating, it could/ should be covered by the OEM. Lower end systems do not have long or reliable warranties however. Do you know if the installing company was bought out or did they just go out of business? If they were acquired then the new company would have to assume those liabilities unless said liabilities were discharged in bankruptcy court.
