I'm currently enrolled and I want to make some kind of plan but it seems like everyone transfers to UConn or or one of the other state schools.I did two years at UConn and I don't want to go back. Was it hard to transfer the credits?

Edit- I'm so sorry, I meant wasn't UConn or a state school

Transferred from MCC to SCSU, they took most of my credits, but reassigned some credits at MCC to different classes. Pretty easy to do.

Nope its pretty easy to get most of your credits transferred. Figure out what you want to study and then pick one of the state schools that will meet your needs.

Even a decade ago...it was absolutely stupid.

Supposedly the Community Colleges and the State Colleges are all fully transferrable amongst each other now. UCONN is still twitchy because it's a completely separate corporation and not all transfer agreements are current/honored.

Talk to the departments before taking core classes elsewhere and get their signatures buying off your transfers being accepted IF you do go that route.

There's whole administration departments that handle this exact issue.

I did the same about a decade ago, great money saver and easy to transfer. A lot of the state schools have on their website a page about transfer students and how specific classes/credits would transfer over to the new school.

It’s not hard. You just fill out an application for the university you want to go to and request official transcripts to be sent. A transfer admissions counselor can advise you on how the credit transfer will work.

Hi! I can probably give some advice, but I definitely suggest checking the websites of schools you are interested in transferring to because policies differ from school to school. If you keep your grades up, that is the best thing you can do to keep transfer doors open. You also may want to compare available coursework to degrees you are interested in. If you are looking at specific majors or out of state schools, you may find that sticking to general coursework is best. If you are looking at majors with specific prereqs like nursing or engineering, be mindful of that as well. As long as the original college is accredited, and I'm almost positive Tunxis is (it's part of the state system, right?), it should be a fine option.

The CCs have a list of classes they offer and to which schools those classes transfer as credit. You just have to line up your ducks and make sure you're taking classes that fit the requirements for the new school. Also check that the school you're going to accepts them and that you have a record of confirmation.

I had no issue transferring military credits and online college credits from a NY school to the Connecticut schools.

Not **every single** credit will transfer, but most of the time, most of them do if there is an equivalent course.

UCONN is sometimes a touch more picky than ECSU, CCSU, SCSU as far as the Community college transfer agreements. But they still have a transfer agreemement.
