Lol, woosh. He means they're crap now that they franchised. Not the same pizza, barely the same people, and certainly not what the original owner had in mind...

lol, I read the italicized part again. So it's not the same as experiencing the original Pepe's, but it's definitely not "crap" like Sbarro or Dominoes.

The main difference I saw in the menu was that the chain Pepe's use canned, not fresh clams in their pizzas.

Agreed. It's only the original New Haven location for me. I don't even bother with the pop ups here in CT. It's just not the same.
