What careers do you guys have?

I’m wanting to move to Connecticut permanently in a few years and would like to know what career I should go into to be able to afford living in Connecticut. I’ve been thinking web development but if there are any better and faster options I’d like to know. I’m just wanting to rent for now, probably with a roommate in New Britain area most likely.

Insurance. There are a lot of insurance companies here that offer well-paying, steady work.

I work in risk management, I did study math but it’s not a requirement. It really depends on department, role and manager

No schooling required, although you can shell out money for a training class. I have my property/casualty and life insurance licenses. It cost me $100 for each book and $100 for each test (which my boss at the time covered)

More advanced licenses and certifications cost more. I'm looking into transitioning into underwriting and the CPCU costs roughly $4500 but it's the industry equivalent of a graduate degree

I used to work in local news. I now work for a large international company based in Stamford. My wife also works in media for a well know company.

It depends on which part of CT. Some parts (Northeast, for example) are a lot cheaper than others.

There are a WIDE variety of positions. ( former CT DDS employee) . CT portal

Editing to clarify: Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil will pretty much find a job with in driving distance of most towns

Many of the people who live in lower Fairfield county commute into NYC for work. So obviously lots of opportunity there

Work for one of the insurance companies in hartford. Own a small business on the side. Wife also owns a small business.

I own a small mobile coffee business where I do pop ups at various events and locations. My wife’s a stylist/hair dresser and has been for a long time.

So far it’s going great. I’m in my first year. Lots of work and my free time/PTO is dedicated to coffee.
