Will Ned close the state, or at least non essentials? When I worked for the state this was always a topic the day before a large storm.

I'm a pharmacist, and today this place is crazy. People believe they'll never leave the house again
I left retail 10 years ago. My sincere condolences.
I worked in a retail computer store in the early 90’s. The owners didn’t give a hoot about weather - state is open? We are open. The number of guys who would show up to buy random unnecessary items was huge. Never expensive or enough to justify staying open that day, but always a bunch of weirdos who decided that THAT was they day they needed to buy a spare $10 mouse or a CD Cleaner.
I also worked a computer store in the 90s, can confirm. Was always someone who would drive through the snow storm to pick up a BNC connector or a stack of blank CDs
Gotta entertain the kids on those snow days somehow
It's okay, I'm in a neighborhood specialty location so we're normally not that busy. I did regular retail for 16 years prior to that, got out before the shit hit the fan for real
Time to "hunker down."
The Hills could get a foot. Agreed Malloy closed the state more times due to snow fall. Most likely a 2 hour delay.
Im following just so i can laugh when it snows hard af
Be out there in the mess yelling “i told you so” at my wife who was making fun of me for charging up my new snowthrower last night.
Assuming you have an electric snowblower... How long does it run for? Slowly converting all my stuff to electric, but it takes me well over an hour to clear my driveway and such, so not sure how many batteries it'd take.
I have the Kobalt 80V. Batteries are 5AH and 2.5AH. (I also have the lawnmower, leaf blower, string trimmer and hedge trimmer.)
My driveway is about 60' long, but only need it for about 40' of it. I should be able to easily clear it with the 2.5AH with juice to spare. The batteries recharge fast enough that by the time I drain one, the other would be ready to go again.
Its a 4Ah battery. I haven’t actually taken it out for a snow clear yet. My wife said it was a pointless purchase since we have landscapers but they come and go as they please and I don’t like sitting there being at the mercy of the plows. Its supposed to run for like 30 minutes but I’ll probably have more accurate numbers later.
Lol
Nah, this is a baby storm. I think it is just getting more hype because it is the first plowable snow that we have had. We would need about 16 inches or sustained blizzard conditions before the state shut down.
This is New England 6 inches of snow is just another day
It used to be!
I GOTTA GET THE BREAD AND MILK
Don’t forget the marshmallow fluff
Love me a fluffernutter
No extra toilet paper?
THEY SAID SNOW!
What about the eggssssssss
You can afford eggs?!
Oh, sorry, forgot what year it is 🫣

Reminder for those who've recently moved here from the south;
Mother Nature doesn't give a flying f*** how big your truck is or how "good" of a driver you think you are. Drive as slowly as the law/road signs recommend. The fewer fools stuck in a ditch, the less work our emergency crews will have.
Additionally, AWD and 4WD is only good for moving, for stopping all cars have 4 wheel breaks. Don't drive like a maniac because you think AWD will save you.
Instructions unclear. Put brights on and I'm cruising in the left lane.
And 18 wheelers on the merritt.
Not all of us former Southerners are that dumb or full of ego. I promise. Most of those people are happy in the south and are still there. ;)
Actually, the NWS has a bigger storm forecast for Friday into Saturday. We'll see. March could be coming in like a lion this year!
I feel like our winters are migrating further from the traditional snow months each year. We go from heat to A/C in a matter of days!
Nothing's closing down until about 2 feet of snow.
This isn’t even worth discussing. It’s an overnight storm and will melt the next day. People are so annoying with their snow talk.
For 8" absolutely not.
6in here is nothing
As a state employee, I can tell you that many of us are hoping for the Gov Granted Time Off.
We'll probably just get Gov Granted Work From Home lol
Which is at least something because tuesdays are one of my go-in days.
Work in a courthouse. Don't have that option with my particular job.
Same, everyone is crossing their fingers that they’ll give us the day just because we haven’t had one this year. I’m trying not to get my hopes too high but fuck, I would be so happy.
We are not getting a large storm so no.
There's a larger chance of someone with truck or SUV with AWD tailgating another car during snowstorm conditions then Ned closing the state
Ok everyone it’s snow this is New England let’s get it together and act like we seen it before
Nah, probably just schools closed. Nothing major
Hopefully the local ski hills get some much needed business!
For 4"-8"? I hardly think so
Is this a satire post?
Doesn’t seem like the meteorologists even know what’s happening to us on the south coast. We’re in Stamford and I’ve seen 1-3, rain, 3-5, 5-8, 5-7 and rain from all the sources.
I'm not holding my breath. It's rain out in the Midwest now. It's only going to be snow because it's happening at night.
Give it til Friday to melt lol
If it's a good amount, awesome. Not counting on it though. I'm not expecting my kids school to be open tomorrow, but we'll see.
Schools will most likely all be closed due to the fact this will be the first snow day for most. If there had already been some they'd probably just wait and maybe delay, but at this point will probably just call it early.
What storm?
we're going to get 2 inches +/- an inch across the state. I don't see the need to close anything,.
To all the people new to the state.
This is the real winter. We’re in the endgame now
So many are still at home or can wfh it shouldn't change too much.
Close the state? Are you being sarcastic?
6 inches is more than enough. Source: Most women
No one really knows what will happen. I’ll just look out the window tomorrow and figure it out from there.
No
Yeah I agree media blows up everything.
Good thing I went for blood work today.
I’m just surprised that no one has had hysteria / panic / rage over concern that the snow is going to carry the Ohio train derailment toxic cloud our way.
For a half a foot? No way. U less power goes out, things will stay open. CT has stuff ready for winter storms. It's not like it never snows here.
Storm isn't predicted to be that severe. Schools and non-essentials will close.
I'll still be expected to work.
I'm already preparing to fend off wasteland raiders.
I wouldn’t think so, we’re probably just gonna get rain in most areas
I thought the storm was only hitting the northwest corner
We're gonna get 1 inch of dust that will melt by the next morning.
Right. I'm ready to see who's driving with their hazards on on the highway tomorrow. Like, what does that signify? It's snowing? We know, we can see. Does it mean, watch out for me because I have no idea what I'm doing? I just don't get it. You don't need your hazard lights on flashing down I91. Keep them off.
In white out conditions it’s recommended to increase visibility. Also it is the law if you are traveling at a rate of speed lower than the stated MPH rate
Sorry. It's distracting and unnecessary. Everyone is driving slow. It's snowing. And I can see your tail lights just fine.
There’s an accident almost daily on 84 in clear sunny weather. And you want people to not take extra cautious steps?
Shit drivers, poor road designs, lots and lots of single car accidents. And that's in good weather. Yeah, I guess you're right. Turn on the hazards, tap the breaks, whatever you have to do to warn people.
It means that my car is shit in the snow and I'm going slower than other traffic. Deal with it.

This thing is only getting so much amplification because it is potentially the first major accumulation of the season.
As an “essential heathcare worker”, my office goes nuts every time there’s more than a couple snowflakes in the air. More than likely itll be nothing crazy. Pretty sure I can count on one hand the number of times the state legitimately needed to shut down to clear roads in the past couple years.
