Agreed, OP will end up having to sand after the primer either way.

yeah ive never painted before and dont know how much of a difference it would make to sand before or after primer. it would save me a lot of time not sanding prior to primer, since i know i will still have to sand after primer x2

great would be saving me time. i was scared id only sand off the primer before it gets to the fuzzy part.

Primer, two coats of a decent quality undercoat. Wait for it to fully dry, then light sand before topcoat.
