I’m repainting my bathroom. When I painted, I had to scrape the silicone off where the sink met the wall. I’ve repaired the damage to the wall. Haven’t primed or painted this part yet. What type of caulk should I be using? I need to caulk where pedestal sink meets the wall. Do I need paintable caulk or silicone?

I would paint and repair fully, then silicone. I like to tape the sink before doing the silicone for a clean line. However, tape will often pull up fresh paint. =(

No it's not. Silicone is a poor choice anywhere up against drywall.
The sink is installed up against drywall. The caulk between the two should be printable.

I agree with you, paintable caulk here. Water won’t be running over it. It’s water resistant enough to deal with the occasional splish splash, just as the dry wall will be fine, unless you’re going nuts with the water. Silicone will just be a mess.

Silicone is the right choice because of the water exposure.
Scraping any caulk is going to cause damage, so what you experienced is normal.
