I have a Moen single faucet shower that was dripping. I replaced the cartridge and made sure the new model was correct. The faucet no longer drips, so that’s a success. However, now the shower discharges the temp opposite the setting. I turned the water back off and twisted the cartridge 180 degrees. Still wrong. Anyone have any advice for me? Thank you all in advance.

Take it back apart and spin the cartridge clockwise 180 degrees. You just installed it upside down.

Hahaha I suppose that would work.

I should clarify that when I rotated it 180 degrees to fix it I only used the cartridge extraction tool to rotate the inner “piston” part. Should I have pulled out the entire thing and rotated it?

Let´s just hope he won´t have any unexpected visitors before he does that (and forget to inform them about it), since I know fools who love cold showers and will blast the water right at them. That would be a very unpleasant experience

Just came to say I did the EXACT same thing (moen and all)!

I know the right answer is to flip it upside down, but I’m too lazy to shut off my main water valve to the house just to do that project. Alas, one day.

With moen 1222 and 1225 cartridge you don’t need to remove the cartridge or turn off the water to reverse it just take the handle off and spin the center brass piece 180 degrees.

This is the plastic knob that you have to unscrew two bolts, remove it, then put it back on. If you’re careful I could get away without shutting off the water but shit loves to go wrong when I try to fix stuff so… not gonna tempt fate.

…dont you have two small needle valves in the shower valve body that can isolate hot/cold supply to your cartridge?

I did the same thing - replaced an old brass Moen 1200 with a new 1225. Getting the old one out was so incredibly difficult that I could not care any less about having H and C flipped afterwards.

I did the exact same thing. I really didn't want to cut out tile and re-do everything and I was able to get to the plumbing from the floor below so I flipped the hot and cold feeds.
