Hi guys I wanted to install a cat net so my cat wont climb the balcony railing anymore but I have ran into a problem, i'm renting and I cant drill anything and i'm thinking of using flex tape to hold a string that will have lots of tension then making it easier for me to install the netting.

Above I have included the picture and an idea of how to execute it. Im just wondering if anyone has any idea how to install something like a turnbuckle to the top left anchor point (in the photo) or something similar so I can create some tension with the string, without drilling into the concrete. The top right anchor point has a metal post I can attach the string to, but im' not sure what to do about the top left anchor point.

Or if someone has another idea of how I can do this project without drilling any holes will be appreciated thanks!

Can you glue the string to the concrete? It wouldn't need to be under much tension or support any weight.

As a plan B, could you build a post out of metal or lumber to attach the string to, and just have that sit against the concrete?

Yeah I feel like plan B would go well, a wooden post and some gorilla glue to the concrete will probably do the job and it won't damage the concrete after I remove it.

You’ll probably have better luck securing an anchor rather than just the string, if you don’t need much tension even a command strip might be enough

I had problems with cats trying to escape from our balcony. I built a square, wooden frame all the way around that braces against the walls and railing, then attached the mesh to that. It worked quite well.

Consider a pair of shower rods, or any decorative post you can cut a little shorter than the height of your space and then put shims under. Then you can tie around, drill through, whatever you'd like.

Look for something called a tension rod. They are used to hang some window treatments.
