Google “drywall sander with vacuum”. If you don’t plan to use it for more than the one job you can get a cheap one.

Found the WEN 6369 for $134.00USD. Is that a cheap one?

I bought this one and was very satisfied with it's performance. I used it to sand alkyd urethane paint off a ceiling. Very aggressive! Very little dust escaped even though my shop vac' is weany.

I would say that’s a small price to pay. The wand+motorized head will save you a lot of pain, one reason pros use them.

Powered drywall sanders are extremely difficult to use on ceilings. They are heavy, awkward, messy, and exhausting.

Your best bet is probably a 9 inch round sanding pad on a pole. It takes some time but once you learn to let the sandpaper do the work it’s not too bad.
