I have an entire wall in my basement that is cinderblock that I want to paint (dark ish green, think slightly lighter forest green). It has a layer of white paint, but there are still lots of small pitting and cracks visible. I thought it would look better if I smoothed it out, so I am trying to fill in the cracks. I bought a tube of siliconized concrete filler & sealant that I have started to fill in some of the cracks with, but this wall is huge and I realize it’s going to take forever doing one small spot at a time like this. Is there a better method to do this?

Edit: thanks for the advice everyone. I am looking in to using blockfill for the wall

Painters who build schools use a sprayer and a paint or primer they call block-fill.

Can you apply block filler without spraying it? Im scared of the overspray getting everywhere as the basement is finished

Consider parging the wall. Then paint with high-hide primer or follow better adviser.

I don't know if this would work if there is moisture.

As a stucco contractor this is the way. Did a 3000 sq ft wall this week with a thin coat of stucco, then water troweled it. Won't be perfectly smooth, but will be smoother than the cinder block

That I don't know. The spraying part seems important to getting into the recesses.

Just use a tray and use that wet tape compound for plastering/taping drywall and use a good sized plastering tool so that you can cover a lot of sq ft at a time.
