Any advice on how to “shutdown” my house while on an overseas trip for the next 8 weeks?

I’m in a 2700 sq ft three story (walkout basement) that was built in the 80s, located on a 3 acre wooded lot in the mid-Atlantic. House is on a slab, first floor is masonry block and upper levels are wood. “Utilities” are a well pump with gravity septic, copper plumbing, electric everything, and HVAC is heat pump and steam humidifier.

We will have neighbors periodically checking the outside for downed trees, but no one will be in the house unless necessary.

So far, I’ve come up with the following punch list:

WATER

  • power off well pump and pressure tank at breaker
  • power off water heater at breaker
  • power off water treatment filters
  • shut off valves to/from pressure tank
  • shut off valves to/from water heater
  • de-pressurize (but not drain) supply lines after water heater, treatment and pressure tanks

HVAC

  • drain humidifier
  • power off humidifier at breaker
  • set thermostat to “Vacation” mode (55°F)

POWER

  • unplug all “standby” electronics (PCs, TVs, etc)

MISC

  • Lock all windows and doors
  • Draw all blinds and curtains

Anything you fine folks see that I’m missing?
