i'm getting random hits with my stud finder but it doesn't seem to be consistent.

If they are actually 2 separate windows, then yes. If it's a mulled window unit (2 windows fastened together) then no. Check the distance between the adjacent jambs.

It really depends. I have two windows in my living room that are squished together, separate units, but there is no stud between them. These were aluminum units that the build purposely put together as one unit in 1980.

How big is the TV? My first question might be.
If the space is wider than 16" it probably has a stud in it. But if you're tv is bigger than that, why would you want to cover your windows?
