Yes. It's along the lines of that project. I'd like to replicate the lovebox. She uses a MacBook for home and has a work-issued ThinkPad. I was under the assumption that the "lovebox" was a standalone device... If it's not, would I have to use a pi? My budget is about $200. I'm planning on visiting a Microcenter today...
Edit: upon further reading, I'm realizing that github you posted is EXACTLY what I'd like to do. "it works don't touch it" would get the job done for this gift.
No, doesn’t have to be and no, it doesn’t have to be a rPI. Depends what you want to do :)
I'd like to replicate the branded lovebox minus the app. It needs to be able to receive text and photos via data sent from my phone or PC. She'd receive feedback from the box (spinning symbol). I have Arduino boards and most of the parts I think I need to make this happen.
Sorry. Looks like formatting on my original post failed me.
Lovebox as in this https://en.lovebox.love/ And the oled screen version https://github.com/julisa99/Lovebox
Thank you! Hopefully I'd be able to find help there too

What pc/tablet are you planning to use to receive the content and display it? Raspberry pi?
