I have a well in my yard that has a leak between it and the pump. I actually found the leak by doing some digging. It's in a 90 degree PVC coupler close to the pump.

I need to call someone to replace the coupler, but until then I would like to be able to shut down the water. I couldn't find a shutoff valve on the well, and since the leak is before the pump shutting down the water into the house doesn't help.

Can someone please advise me how I might be able to shut down the water until I can get someone out to fix it?

UPDATE: I got it all sorted out. Thanks for the help everyone!

Shut off power to the well pump. There will be a check valve to prevent backflow from going into the well but there should be little to no pressure behind the pump so you can cut out the bad section and glue in a new section in its place.

This right here. If you've already found the leak you might want to just do the work yourself. It's really easy to filx that tubing.

PVC repair is very easy and cheap. If close to the pump, replace the whole section from the pump to give yourself room to make the connections.

And if possible add another valve If you think it needs it. So repairs are easy if it happens again.

Note... Depending on the type of well/pump, you may have to prime it after making the repair.

Fill a 5-gallon bucket with water 'before' you make the repair.
