also i admire your decision to remove the boobs. i have two in my apt and i would replace them if i wasn't renting

A better way to think about it — your entire house is a series of things connected, in parallel, to 120v

The only issue is that the new one is going to be dimmer (unless you've got two really low wattage bulbs in the current fixture.) You might not notice it though.
