First post here ! I am redoing my bathroom and I am installing a claw foot tub. It’s a smaller bathroom so I will have a mounted faucet with a handheld shower. I am trying to add a rain fall shower head for the middle of the tub by installing a small soffit and running the plumbing too it through the soffit so it is in the middle of the tub. The question I have is can I have a divert split to three different exit points (faucet, handheld shower and rain fall shower) and how would I go about that? Any advice or help would be really helpful!

I have been wondering the same myself. I saw some diverters on Alibaba that “seem” to allow any combination of outlets to be run. However, I’m starting to look at Kohler’s digital systems as those appeal to my nerdiness. And, of course, with those types of systems, you can go way over the top with how many spigots and sprayers and jets you can get going.

Thanks for the feedback my wife is looking for more a vintage classic look in the bathroom so the digital system is out of the question. I would sacrifice the hand held shower if I was unable to figure it out.

the diverter on the faucet chooses either faucet or showerhead
there's typically a separate diverter to choose rainfall or handheld

Not sure if what you want exists - it may - but this is how it's typically done

Thank you - I have zero plumbing experience and I’m basically telling my father (who has basic plumbing knowledge) what I want so that we can make a plan on how we can build it together. Trying to get my 35 square foot bathroom done in a week - wish us luck !

This is probably your best bet as it keeps it simple and could be found in vintage or classic styles.

good luck!! bathrooms can be horrible but they're so rewarding when finished

Appreciate it - yes our bathroom is extremely tiny so we are using a clawfoot tub to make it appear more open instead of a built in tub that takes up half of the bathroom. A lot of moving parts but excited to get it completed.

I have the exact setup you’re planning, I’m away at the minute but if you can wait two days I can send you a picture of the part you need.

That would be awesome - yes plumbing isn’t set to start until Thursday I believe so we have time ! Thanks again for the help .

If you haven't thought about this yet...

You'll need a ring shower curtain to keep the shower water inside the tub. Without this, serious damage can be caused by oversprayed or splashed water.

Would you recommend a d oval shape ring or the circle ring ? I was planning on the the oval ring . The specs on my tub are 53 x 28. Also I plan on tiling the wall behind and floor surrounding the tub with a drain underneath the tub (separate from the in tub drain ) for easy cleaning. Would that take away from potential water damage ?

As for tiling under and behind.... yes it would probably work, but you'll need to learn about waterproofing under and behind the tile. Tile and grout are not waterproof (surprise!)

Look into a product called Kerdi from a company called Schluter. It's made for custom tile installations and shower pans. Can be done to fit any size or shape of area. Note that the floor drain you use must be their design also -- it gets water from under the tile as well as over, into the plumbing drain.

I had the oval ring on mine (1917 house, owned from '81 to '03). It used three anchor points to walls (tub sat in a corner). I was concerned that the fourth corner would sag, so I added a hanging post from the ceiling. All of these fittings were available by ordering together with the ring.

We then used (I think) 4 vinyl curtains, one of which closes across the front, the others were more or less stationary for the other three sides.
