Trimming a Glass Panel Shaker Door?

I bought glass panel 30"x80" shaker door for my office, but upon bringing it home found that the store had mislabeled it and it's actually 32"w. With my circular saw, could I trim it on to size as I have other doors, or could that mess up the glass insert? Taking it back for a return would be a huge pain, but I'd hate to break the glass an waste the money. Thoughts?

*edit* The glass panel is the full height an width of the door, save for the 4" stiles and rails

Just return it and have them give you the proper door.

Would love to, but it's from Habitat for Humanity ReStore (basically Good Will or Salvation Army for home renos) an they don't have the correct size. I'm thinking that's the way to go anyway, an just get a refund.

Circular saw would impart a good bit of vibration to the glass panel. Table saw with a well supported workpiece would work better. Might be best, if you really need to do this, to trim it back on the sides using a router and straight edge guide. That said, I agree with u/Alexstarfire, return it and get the correct size door. You could be setting yourself up for heartbreak and frustration by trying to adjust the size of the door.

If you trim it, which I think would actually be fine to accomplish... a few issues

  1. Are the borders solid or some sort of veneer or hollow core?

  2. Will you lose your mortises for the hinges and door knob hole?

  3. The edges are probably subtly rounded, you'd need to restore that, not too hard to manage with a router, or maybe just sand paper

  1. Borders are solid wood
  2. It hasn't be machined at all, so no mortises and no holes for the knob/latch
  3. I don't have a round over bit with that small of a radius, but i figured I could just plane a small radius easily enough.

I'm hearing some "don't even bother" so it may just come down to whether or not I'm feeeling gutsy enough....
