I removed, repaired, and reinstalled my condo's wobbly shower door, but I put the aluminum strip that goes underneath on backwards! The door opens outwards and has a rubber strip along the bottom, like a windshield wiper. I thought the lip needed to go on the inside to avoid scraping on the rubber, but the post-shower puddles indicate I was wrong. The rubber windshield wiper bit on the door should apparently just clear the lip.

Now I have to take the entire thing apart and put it all back together and re-do all that fussy silicone just to flip that piece.

Can anyone think of a good workaround?

The only solution I can think of is getting a strip of polished aluminum about the same size as the lip and caulking that on the outside. I could Dremel out channels through the lip on the inside to let collected water drain. I have no clue how to get a piece of metal like that, though. How would someone procure a piece measuring 9/64" x 15/64" by x 24" (3.4 mm x 6 mm x 610 mm) other than paying a machine shop an exorbitant amount?

Just take the door apart and put it back together the other way.

I also figured out that the little rubber seal bit isn't supposed to be all wavy like it is, so I got a new one for $5. I'll see if that stops enough water. Otherwise, it sounds like I'll have another fun Saturday of messing around with the shower door.

Ask at Lowe's or some bath remodeling business if they have a bottom channel piece, similar to the one you put in backwards. Then dremel/cut off the little strip you need. OR, take out the one you put in wrong and put it in right. Good luck.

To be honest, you solution sounds like more of a fuzz than just fixing it in the right way.

It'd be super easy if such a magically convenient piece were available for a reasonable price. If it's got to be custom, then another day of messing around would be better.
