I'm currently in the process of planning a workbench build for my garage this weekend using mostly 2x4s and plywood. The reference I'm looking at is using 3" #8 screws to secure the plywood to the 2x4 supports beneath it, creating about 20 spots on the surface where there will be screw heads. The plywood would be 2 3/4" purebond red oak sheets doubled up and glued together, so 1.5" total on the thickness.
The frame that will hold the top looks like this: https://i.imgur.com/wZzuPRr.png
My question is, will glue evenly applied to the entire frame be able to hold this table surface solidly? Or should I stick to mounting it with screws?
Edit: I do plan on mounting a vise on the surface so stability is paramount.
Edit 2: I didn't realize that I'd be getting this much feedback so thank you everyone. Also I realize now that it's dumb to use drywall screws for this, will definitely be using construction screws.
Edit 3: I seriously regret putting the word drywall in the title.
