The whole length of I-87 from the Canadian border to the south of New York is loaded with gorgeous places like this. My parents live on Schroon Lake, in the mountains, and it's just absolutely beautiful in the summer and fall!

I’ve taken a tube down that! There is an illusion with the striated gorge walls where it feels like the river is running up hill.

Yup we live near the Finger Lakes and try to hit at least a couple of these places every summer or fall: Watkins Glenn, Taughanock Falls, Buttermilk Falls, Robert Treman, Stonybrook, & Letchworth. Our kids especially love walking up the gorge trail at Taughannock in the summer.

It is totally worth the side trip. If you can spare the time, do a tour down into the chasm. Otherwise, if you are traveling through in spring during the winter melt, it is rather impressive just to view from the bridge. There are campsites there too with cabins.

I think I have been to F1 in MTL about 6 times, it is really fun. Hoping to do a European race next year.

I spent a few summers in upstate New York as a kid doing music camp. Some of my favorite times ever. Fast forward 30 years later I took my parents up there and they loved it. Stopped by Ausable, Mt Washington, and stayed at the Lake Placid Lodge which was a dream. I’d love to spend a few months in the summer camping up there and Vermont one year.

Truly a beautiful place. You can walk down in good weather, or just check it out from the bridge on the top.

Also, there is a fantastic brewery / biergarten right near there, Ausable Brewing Company, which is a nice way to relax after a hike.

Took a boat tour down it about 40 years ago. Still sticks with to this day. An impressive place.

Just stopped there a few months ago on a road trip to VT. We were the only people there. It was pretty cool but all the bridges were behind a(n additional) paywall.

Me and my grandma went on a boat ride there in 1981. It was really cool. I have no photos. My sister skated in lake placid every summer. That’s all I got
