What are some places in Utah you've heard of or been to that you would recommend I check out?

Go back there right after a good snowfall. Been several times, starting back in the mid-1970s, but the one when everything was frosted was truly unique. Plus, had the place all to ourselves.

Been to Grand Staircase/Escalante, or Capitol Reef? Well worth it, and if magnificent solitude appeals to you, can't be beat.

I've been there but it's about time I go back.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Outta Boulder (Co), didn't take climbing gear with us on a spring break trip to Canyonlands, 1976. At a ranger hosted campfire talk, mentioned access limitations to him, he told us about Goblin Valley.

Neither he (nor we) were aware of recent new road in, he directed us to an old 4WD double-track near Wild Horse, through scrub & dunes. Blasted through in a Dodge Coronet 440, ranger at the station (what was then was a single-wide trailer) couldn't believe we made it in on the 'old' road.

Was #86 on original visitor log. Saw maybe six other people there all week. Hooked. Following year, played capture the flag through the hoodoos with kids from BYU, who it turned out were on the same Purple Microdot LSD as we were. Good times . . .
