I used to sail here. It gets ripping (30 mph) summer afternoon, upstream winds and is great for wind surfing, small catamaran and sunfish. You needed to camp out, as it isn’t near to much, or certainly wasn’t back in the day.

Love Blue Mesa. Caught many a brown trout there. It’s still so low, bums me out every time I see it.

It was so beautiful. I had never seen it before but the water looked so low... Which sadly, seems to be the story everywhere out west. We did not see one single boat or person fishing anywhere along the way which surprised me.

It was a hotel kind of trip for us this time around. I could camp out there for weeks and be in my element! Not so much for the wife though...

Does the water ever warm up much even in July or August?

That surprises me a little too but I think it’s just because it’s off season. Despite its low levels it’s a big lake, so it’s likely you just aren’t near common fishing areas. I usually fish far from the road when I’m there.
