Is this above arctic circle? It’s beautiful, reminds me of our fall foliage here in New England but on the ground instead of in the trees!

It's not quite in the Arctic, but yes it was strange to see the colours go at the end of August rather than this time of year!

OP, did you drive to this location from Yellowknife? I like the beauty in the ruggedness of this landscape. I stayed in Whitehorse YK for ten days a few years ago to see the northern lights, I hope you had the chance to see them also this far north.

We flew in by float plane! I managed to catch some Northern Lights one night but all the photos have human-made objects 🥺 Whitehorse is up next!

I hear their vegetation is similar but different in their alpine tundra! I'll have to go and find out though.......

This reminds me of a canoe trip I went on in high school up in NWT/Nunavut. Drove up to Yellowknife and float plane from there. It's another world up there!

The Barren Lands. I did a 50 day canoe trip through the Barrens from Yellowknife to Kuglultuk in 2012 and it was one of the most spectacular geographies I have ever seen.

If you have worked in any of the diamond mines, this is a very familiar site. Absolutely beautiful.
