That's really pretty, but Unknown Peak is a dumb name for a mountain

I don't know, i took it on the way to Annapurna base camp, but i never asked the name of the valley.

Edit: i'm 99.9% sure it isn't Everest, though.

The mountain in the back is called Machapuchare. The peaks in the front aren't probably considered their own mountains at all. Could be that they aren't really peaks either, but start of a ridge.

Not sure if the valley has a name, but the river at the bottom is called Modi.

A lot of the peaks don't have names, just numbers denominatios based on their height and that's it. (E.g. 'Point 5353')

There are too many peaks to name them all!

It turned out to be an issue in 1999 when India and Pakistan fought a war there and most of the landmarks that India had to recapture did not even have names. (Some were given names during the war).

I've always loved that about the Himalayas, that there are so many that we can't even name them all and that some of the tallest are so high that no one ever knew they were there

Are you sure? The translation is Fishtail Mountain, and I do not see the classic fish tail shape.

Nope thats not Khumbu then. Annapurna I is further south like an enclave. Everest on rare summer days can be very clear and look similar to this.
