Gorgeous photo. Hope to see one for real some day. But for now, this picture will do nicely.

In person it looks like a bit of orange/red mist. It's definitely beautiful, but nothing like the pictures.

It’s way less impressive in real life. All these photos of Firefall are so heavily edited

I wonder what this actually looks like. If you zoom in on the fire fall you see a lot of clipping. Someone had been playing with the Lightroom sliders.

Yeah about 95% of what gets posted here has been edited so heavily as to probably on somewhat resemble what it actually looked like

thank you! this was 2 years ago. firefall only happens 3rd week of february!

This explains it. I completely randomly went this year because I was in the area. I was wondering why so many cars and people were lined up waiting for fire fall (I went in February)

It occurs in October as well if there has been recent precipitation.

Back in the 1960s we went to Yosemite every year or two. The Rangers actually set up a huge bonfire at the top of the cliff and down in the valley we would attend a Ranger presentation around a campfire in the evening. Then, around 9pm, our speaker would turn to shout out toward the cliff, “let the fire fall” and up top they would push the entirety of the bonfire over the edge. An experience of a lifetime which I had the joy of witnessing many times. The visual of a true fire fall cascading thousands of feet down the cliff face is a gorgeous sight that few still alive have ever seen. I know they put an end to the practice sometime after we left California and was disappointed to learn that I could never share this spectacle with my new family the first time I returned in the 90s.

Yep. This was the true fire fall in Yosemite. The bon fire was lit near glacier point and then pushed over, cascading down towards Curry Village.

Nice shot but way too much editing. Can you please post the unedited original as well?

This a fantastic photo. Great job.

It’s always amazing to me that people will take the time to go over a photo with a fine tooth comb to find something wrong with it and then take more time to complain about it. Great job guys, hope you feel better.

I went in late September for the first time and it was breathtaking. El Capitan, Half Dome, and Nevada Fall were all well worth the trip on their own. I can't wait to get out there to backpack throughout Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada!

Beautiful, but if I'm being honest I think the part I like the most is how the clouds and the scattered trees make it look like the top of the mountain is being disintegrated and sucked upwards.
