Agreed. Rockville park has some great short trails. A lot of mountain bikes use the trails now though.

I'm surprised too! But I lived in Dixon as a teen, and once you get away from the sheepshaggers and strip malls the foothills are actually quite nice.

CJ_Thompson t1_iyt50nt wrote

Vacaville is the home of the strip mall with all the outlet malls and big-box stores…

I have never seen Vacaville look so beautiful. Well done

There are days in spring when everything’s green

Emphasis on days before everything turns brown lol. To be fair, the golden hills can be just as pretty.

Love it. when I was a kid and we would drive to the Bay area from Oregon for family Christmases, Vacaville was the marker that were were almost there. I don't know how many lunches I ate at the old Nut Tree.

In high school the only thing we ever went to Vacaville for was sonic 😂

I'm sorry, but I want to take a brush mower to those thistles.

Those, plus all of the star thistle, made running cross country in high school a bloody nightmare (literally sometimes)

Nice to see those hills again. I lived in neighboring Fairfield for 40 years and worked at the prisons in Vacaville for 25 years. It’s a pity these hills occasionally burn during the dry months. We almost had to evacuate inmates one year.

That's Star Thistle, an invasive species that has now covered the state. It's got nasty thorns. But you can pull it up easily by the base. But when you have a field of it, you just get to look at it.

The flowers are a little bit pretty. Amazing how someone made it a work of art.

Interesting fact: that background is taken from somewhere close(ish) to Vacaville, I can't remember if it's on the way to Napa or Roseville
