Beautiful! I'm headed there in August- any highlights? Will be in Van, Squamish and Whistler.

Tons of amazing hikes along the Sea To Sky between Vancouver and Whistler. Heads up, some provincial parks require you to have a day pass that you have to pre reserve (at like 7am PST) a month or two in advance in order to park and hike the trail. It's become wild; for example Garibaldi Provincial Park or some Cypress trails. Check out BC Parks website for more info.

Enjoy!

Vancouver: St Mark’s Summit, Lynn Peak Squamish: Stawamus Chief 1st & 2nd Peak, Brunswick Mountain Trail, Deeks Lake, Tunnel Bluffs Whistler: Panorama Ridge, Joffre Lake

We have tons more, but these hikes will give you incredible views that will make you come back especially St Marks, Stawamus Chief, Brunswick, Tunnel, Panorama and Joffree.

Make sure you make a reservation with BC Parks if you plan to visit Garibaldi Park (panorama ridge), Golden Ears Park, and Joffre Lake. Book 2 days in advance, exactly at 7AM PST. Booking is free!

And please make sure you are adequately prepared for the hike and let someone know where you are going and when you are expected back.

This, please make sure you are fully prepared. Each of the hikes I just mentioned takes, on average , 4 hrs to complete, with Panorama and Brunswick needing at least 10 hrs to complete. I highly recommend starting early in the morning like 5AM to avoid the crowd, that way you get to enjoy the hike and the view. 8-9 AM is usually the time the crowd shows up, you dont want that.

Its worth the hike. Hike early and you might get to enjoy the entire summit and view all to yourself.

Check out Elfin Lakes - the trail head is not far from the Squamish city limits and the views at the top are amazing. Even better, and not just limited to Elfin Lakes (but I often used to time my hikes up there just for this) is that the Perseid Meteor Shower peaks on August 12th so any time out of the light pollution, and no clouds, could give you quite the experience.

There is an app called AllTrails that I use, it shows local hikes in BC. It is a good resource on different levels and you can use it to track your progress. Very useful.

Cypress Provincial Park, just north of Vancouver as you head up to Whistler, gives a fantastic view of the surrounding mountains, sea, and city. You don’t even have to hike for the view if you don’t want to, there’s a great overlook from a car park.

It’s worth the stop, if you have 30 minutes to an hour to spare!

Sooo someone recommended this adventure years back when I was visiting Vancouver:

Widgeon Falls/Lake in Pinecone Burke Provincial Park. You rent a canoe/kayak early in the morning and paddle down Widgeon Creek about an hour to the trailhead. Then you camp around there and can hike to the falls or the lake. The lake seems like a pretty far walk, so we weren’t able to make it all the way, but the falls are beautiful.

Really solid adventure overall.
