Red Castle and Red Castle Lake are in the Uinta mountain range in Northern Utah. It is the only east/west oriented mountain range in the United States. It's about a 9 mile hike from the trailhead accessed via southern Wyoming.

Awesome, love the patchy lighting.

What's with all the dead trees? Some kind of disease or pest like pine beetle?

Utah native here. The Unitas were absolutely ravaged by bark beetles in decades past. It's gotten a little better but that's honestly because so many of the more vulnerable trees are already dead.
